Winter Comedy Night, start the new year with a laugh!
Who doesn’t love magic tricks, or circus acts, or stand up comedians? You will find is all at our January 24 Comedy Night!
Rated PG13 – fun for everyone, but little tykes may not enjoy the show as much as older teens and adults.
The show begins with Dan Paulus, Utah’s “Best Stand-Up Magician” sharing a perfect mix of seriously good magic and super-fun routines.
In 1991, after paying his way through college by performing for anyone who would watch him fan a deck, Dan Paulus made the decision to give up his ridiculous dream of becoming a high school teacher and pursue the more secured life of a being a fulltime magician. Dan has been a working pro ever since.
Currently residing in Salt Lake City, Dan has performed for hundreds of corporations and private parties from LA to New York. He has been an on set adviser for two CBS shows “Touched by an Angel” and “Promise Land”. He was also the magic consultant for the hit online game The Sims providing performance and career information for magician characters in “The Sims 3 Showtime”.
Thrills, chills, and spills are usually reserved for the motocross track, but Marcus Wilson brings them to the comedy stage. Delighting audiences with an act that is half stand-up, half one-man circus (Death defiance included).
Marcus Wilson was born on April Fools day 1973, so it seems only fitting that he has a passion for jokes. This passion kept him in trouble all through elementary and Jr. high School. In ninth grade, he enrolled in a drama class and discovered a place where acting out was encouraged and accepted. He found that as long as he was on stage people seemed to enjoy his obnoxious antics. In high school, while working at a restaurant, he learned to juggle with rolls and oranges and fell in love with useless tricks and odd skills. At the age of 22, armed with a handful of these tricks and a desire to entertain, he began doing shows.
Marcus’ routine is a rapid fire barrage of jokes about his relationship with his wife, jokes about fast food, jokes about Smurfs and orphans. As if the jokes weren’t enough, there is a trunk full of tricks. He uses juggling balls, clubs, musical interludes, and yo-yo tricks, with sight gags and stand-up mingled throughout, culminating with a knife juggling/balancing act that will leave you cringing, laughing, and cheering all at once. Over the past twenty years Marcus has performed for literally thousands of events, from private functions and fairs, to theaters, casinos, and comedy clubs. He has performed at the national mayor’s convention, and has been seen on “Touched by an Angel.
