Bringing the Arts to Glenns Ferry since 1994
Theater is the art of telling a story well
Volunteer community members are our actors and actresses for Summer plays, Fall play and the Christmas Holiday show. It is exciting to watch the volunteers grow in confidence as they find their ‘stage presence’.
We maintain our tax-deductible status by providing the opportunity for participation, appreciation and development of performing arts.
In 2023 our community focus will be continuing the expanded live theater season, continue the youth summer Theater Experience Camp and offer educational opportunities through classes and workshops during the year.
Production costs such as scripts, costumes, lighting, utilities, insurance and keeping our Historic Opera Theater safe and beautiful is supported by donations, fundraisers, sponsors, and grants.
Our maintenance project for 2023 is to upgrade outdated sound and lighting systems. The basic bones are good, but the sound system needs to be expanded to increase the number of microphones that can be used. The existing lighting “needs to be retrofitted to LED as parts are no longer available for most of the fixtures.
The 2023 restoration project will focus on restoring the entry alcove and entry doors.
Do you have some time or skills to share? We can always use help – backstage, costumes, sets, sound/lights – and oh so much more. Give a call (208 580 4202) or email.

Our Story
Prior to the 1990’s, the theater had been used as a movie theater. Live stage shows were brought back in 1994 when Rich and Connie Wills purchased the theater.
With of help from the community and sponsors, they were able to put on shows throughout summers ever since. The feedback received from people who come to the shows, the performers, and the local community kept them motivated for 25 years.
In late 2019 the theater was purchased by Jim & Dorothy with plans to continue live theater as well as expand its use throughout the year. Their focus will be about serving as a community and visitor resource for family activities and private events while maintaining the historical beauty of the building.
Our Mission
It is our mission to make use of the Historical Opera Theater to serve the people of Glenns Ferry and surrounding communities through a variety of community activities, performing arts and private events. It is an equally important mission to restore and preserve the historical beauty of the theater as closely as possible to its original state.
